2019 Nigerian gubernatorial elections
The 2019 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held in 31 of the 36 states. Most states voted on March 2, 2019, Rivers State held its vote on April 4, and Kogi and Bayelsa elected on November 16. Governors have a two-term limit, so many incumbents could not run again.
What happened overall
- The PDP gained four governorships from the APC (Adamawa, Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara).
- The APC gained two governorships from the PDP (Gombe, Kwara).
- Net change: PDP +2.
- Several results were altered by court decisions. APC winners in Bayelsa and Zamfara were disqualified before taking office, and the PDP win in Imo State was overturned after the governor-elect served for about seven months.
