An election was held for Swale Borough Council in England on 7 May 2015 as part of the UK local elections. All 47 seats were up for grabs because ward boundaries had changed. The results were: Conservatives 32 seats, UKIP 9 seats, Labour 4 seats, and Independents 2.

Since then, a few by-elections and party changes occurred. In Milton Regis, a by-election on 3 August 2017 followed the death of UKIP councillor Katy Coleman on 30 May 2017. Labour gained the seat, with Tony Winckless elected by a majority of 318 votes over Conservative Kane Roy Blackwell.

In Sheppey East, a by-election on 3 May 2018 followed the resignation of Conservative councillor Lesley Ingham in March 2018. The Conservatives held the seat, with Lynd Ernest Taylor winning by 184 votes over Labour’s Gill Smith.

In April 2018, all eight remaining UKIP councillors chose to sit as The Swale Group. This was reduced by one on 7 April 2019 when former UKIP councillor Padmini Nissanga (Sheppey East) was expelled from The Swale Group and became an Independent.
