2014 New Orleans Saints season
The 2014 New Orleans Saints season was the team’s 48th in the NFL and their 39th playing at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Head coach was Sean Payton, in his eighth year, with Mickey Loomis as general manager. The Saints finished 7–9, placing 2nd in the NFC South, and did not qualify for the playoffs.
Key people: owner Tom Benson, offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr., defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
In March 2014, the Saints announced training camp would be held at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia for three years, with new practice fields and facilities funded in part by state tax breaks. The move came after Payton’s involvement with the 2013 Greenbrier Classic.
The team had four Pro Bowl players: quarterback Drew Brees, running back Mark Ingram II, tight end Jimmy Graham, and right tackle Jahri Evans.
The Saints were eliminated from postseason contention after their Week 16 loss to Atlanta, the first time they missed the playoffs since 2012.
