2014 Arkansas elections
The 2014 Arkansas elections were held on November 4, with voters choosing all statewide executive officers, a U.S. Senate seat, all four U.S. House seats, and members of the state legislature.
Governor
- Republican Asa Hutchinson defeated Democrat Mike Ross (with Green Josh Drake and Libertarian Frank Gilbert also on the ballot) to become governor. Beebe was term-limited and could not run again. Hutchinson’s win helped Republicans gain a trifecta—their control of the governor’s office and both chambers of the state legislature—for the first time since 1874.
Lieutenant Governor
- Republican Tim Griffin defeated Democrat John Burkhalter. The seat had been vacant since February 2014 after Mark Darr resigned amid ethics investigations.
Secretary of State
- Republican Mark Martin was re-elected.
Attorney General
- Republican Leslie Rutledge defeated Democrat Nate Steel (Libertarian Brian Leach also ran).
State Treasurer
- Republican Dennis Milligan defeated Democrat Karen Sealy Garcia and Libertarian Chris Hayes.
State Auditor
- Republican Andrea Lea defeated Democrat Regina Stewart Hampton and Libertarian Brian Leach.
U.S. Senate and U.S. House
- Republican Tom Cotton won the U.S. Senate seat.
- All four Arkansas seats in the U.S. House of Representatives were won by Republicans.
Overall result
- Republicans won all statewide executive offices, the U.S. Senate seat, majorities in both state legislative chambers, and all four U.S. House seats, marking a decisive shift away from Democratic dominance in Arkansas.
