2011–12 NextGen Series
The 2011–12 NextGen Series was the first season of a European football competition for under-19 teams. Sixteen teams from across Europe competed from 17 August 2011 to 25 March 2012. They were divided into four groups of four and played home-and-away round-robin matches. The top two teams from each group moved on to the knockout rounds. All kickoff times were in Central European Time. In the end, Inter Milan won the title, Ajax finished as runners-up, Liverpool were third, and Marseille finished fourth. A total of 56 matches were played, with Viktor Fischer and Jean Marie Dongou each scoring seven goals. The next season followed in 2012–13.
