Mitragyna stipulosa
Mitragyna stipulosa is a flowering plant in the Rubiaceae family. It grows across many African countries, including Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Uganda, and Zambia. It lives in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and swamps. The species is Near Threatened due to habitat loss. The leaves contain several alkaloids, such as mitraphylline, rotundifoline, isorotundifoline, rhynchophylline, and isorhynchophylline.
