2008 student protests in Chile

In 2008, Chile saw large student protests against the education system. Students from secondary schools and universities joined in, making them the largest protests since 2006. On April 24, police detained about 500 students in Santiago, Valparaíso, Concepción, Temuco and Valdivia. On May 28, more than 300 students were detained in Santiago and Antofagasta during the protests.
