2007 Mount Union Purple Raiders football team
The 2007 Mount Union Purple Raiders football team represented the University of Mount Union in the 2007 NCAA Division III season. Led by veteran head coach Larry Kehres (his 22nd season), with Jason Candle as offensive coordinator and Vince Kehres as defensive coordinator, the team played at Mount Union Stadium. They won the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) title and finished 14-1 overall, 9-0 in the conference, after an undefeated regular season. The Raiders reached the Stagg Bowl, Division III’s national championship game, for the third straight year but lost to Wisconsin–Whitewater 31-21.
Two players from the team went on to the NFL: wide receivers Pierre Garçon and Cecil Shorts III. Garçon was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL Draft and started in Super Bowl XLIV before his career with the Redskins and 49ers. Shorts began his NFL career in 2011 with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
