The 2006 1000 km of Istanbul was the opening race of the Le Mans Series, organized by the ACO. It took place on April 9, 2006. A fuel shortage caused by an error left crews short of fuel, so the race was shortened to a 4-hour timed event to ensure there was enough fuel for all entrants. In the results, pole position winners in each class and the class winners are shown in bold, and cars that completed less than 70% of the winner’s distance are Not Classified (NC).
