Tom Smith (pitcher)
Thomas Edward Smith, known as Tom Smith, was an American pitcher in Major League Baseball. He was born December 5, 1871 in Boston, Massachusetts, and died March 2, 1929 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He batted and threw right-handed. Smith debuted in the MLB on June 6, 1894 with the Boston Beaneaters and played until May 12, 1898 with the St. Louis Browns. He appeared for four teams: Boston Beaneaters (1894), Philadelphia Phillies (1895), Louisville Colonels (1896), and St. Louis Browns (1898). His career record was 4 wins and 7 losses, with a 6.33 ERA and 38 strikeouts. He attended Fordham University and the College of the Holy Cross, and later played in the minor leagues in 1899 (New England League) and 1900 (Eastern League).
