Łódź Cathedral
Archcathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Łódź, Poland, is a Roman Catholic archcathedral basilica and an active church. It is built in the Neo-Gothic style. Construction began in 1901 and finished in 1912. The cornerstone was blessed on June 16, 1901 by Bishop Wincenty Teofil Popiel. The church is made of red brick (not plaster) in the Rohbau style, built from plans by the Wende i Zarske firm. Berliner Emil Zillmann led the construction, with minor corrections by Józef Pius Dziekoński and Sławomir Odrzywolski-Nałęcz. The nave basilica is modeled after Ulm Minster in Germany. At 104.5 meters tall, it is the tallest building in Łódź and one of the tallest churches in Poland.
