Trachylepis gravenhorstii
Trachylepis gravenhorstii, also known as Gravenhorst's mabuya, is a small skink (a type of lizard) found only in Madagascar. It belongs to the family Scincidae. The species name honors German zoologist Johann Ludwig Christian Gravenhorst. It lives in rocky areas, grasslands, shrublands, and forests, and it can also be found in coffee and ylang-ylang plantations. It grows to about 7 cm from snout to vent and up to 18 cm in total length. It lays eggs (oviparous). It is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN. Over time it has had several different scientific names, such as Euprepis gravenhorstii and Mabuia gravenhorstii.
