The 2005 Chevy American Revolution 400 was the 11th race of 36 in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. It happened on May 14, 2005, at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Virginia. The track is a 0.75-mile oval, and the race was 400 laps (300 miles) long. The average speed was 100.316 mph, and about 107,000 people attended.

Kasey Kahne, driving for Evernham Motorsports, won the pole with a qualifying time of 20.775 seconds. He also led the most laps, totaling 242, and won the race in car No. 9. This was Kahne’s first career Nextel Cup win.

During qualifying, Carl Long spun and crashed on his lap and did not qualify for the race.

The race aired on FX in the United States, with announcers Mike Joy, Larry McReynolds, and Darrell Waltrip.
