Chopol, the Korean-Polish Shipping Society, was a state-owned maritime transport company linking Poland and North Korea. It had offices in Pyongyang and Gdynia and traces back to 1965 with the Korean-Polish Society of Brokers, which later became Chopol in 1987 to keep a steady trade flow: magnesite from North Korea to Poland and Polish coke the other way. The fleet was small, starting with several ships (including Pukchang and Pong Su) and later mainly the bulk carrier Chopol 2, crewed entirely by Koreans and operating mainly in Southeast Asia. It handled goods like rice, sugar, and wood and offered freight forwarding services. Chopol was liquidated on July 12, 2018.
