2001 Acropolis International Basketball Tournament

The 2001 Acropolis International Basketball Tournament was held August 21–23 at the OAKA Olympic Indoor Hall in Marousi, a suburb of Athens. Six games were played, with Greece (the host) joined by Italy, Lithuania, and FR Yugoslavia. Italy won the tournament (their second title), Greece finished second, FR Yugoslavia came in third, and Lithuania was fourth. Gregor Fučka of Italy was named the tournament MVP. The players to watch included Theodoros Papaloukas (Greece); Dejan Bodiroga, Marko Jarić, and Peja Stojaković (FR Yugoslavia); Denis Marconato (Italy); and Šarūnas Jasikevičius, Ramūnas Šiškauskas, and Darius Songaila (Lithuania). A few weeks later, FR Yugoslavia won EuroBasket 2001 in Turkey.
