1990–91 National Division 2

The Courage Brewery–sponsored season of England’s second-tier rugby union league ran from 22 September 1990 to 27 April 1991. The division grew from 12 to 13 teams, with each club playing 12 matches for a total of 78 games.

New teams and changes
- Bedford were relegated from the top flight after one season.
- London Scottish and Wakefield were promoted from division 3.
- Gosforth split in 1990: Newcastle Gosforth moved to Kingston Park (the New Ground) while Gosforth Rugby Club continued as an amateur side in partnership with Northumbria University.

Results
- Champions: Rugby (their 1st title), promoted to National Division 1 for 1991–92.
- Runners-up: London Irish, also promoted to National Division 1.
- Relegated: Headingley and Richmond dropped to National Division 3.

- The title race and relegation battle were tight, decided on the final round of matches.
