199 BC was a year in the ancient world, before the modern calendar system. In the Roman calendar it was the Year of the Consulship of Lentulus and Tappulus. It was also counted as year 555 Ab urbe condita, which means “from the founding of the city” (Rome). The Anno Domini system, which later became common in Europe, calls it 199 BC. Many other calendars used different labels for the same time, but they refer to roughly the same period in history.
