1989 Southern League season

The 1989 Southern League was a Class AA baseball season that ran from April 7 to August 31. Ten teams played a 144-game schedule. The Birmingham Barons were the regular-season champions and also won the playoffs, defeating the Greenville Braves in the finals. The season MVP was Eric Anthony of the Columbus Mudcats. The league used a split-season format, with the top team from each half advancing to the post-season.
