The 1989 Fordham Rams football team represented Fordham University as an independent in the NCAA Division I-AA season. In his fourth year, head coach Larry Glueck led the Rams to a 2–6 record, with home games at Jack Coffey Field in The Bronx. This season marked Fordham’s return to major college football after a 35-year absence, following two years as a Division III playoff team (1987–1988). Fordham launched a $150 million capital campaign in 1989, which included plans for a $20 million stadium. Senior back Rick Hollawell set Fordham career records with 36 touchdowns and 4,299 all-purpose yards.
