Juana Rosa Aguirre Luco was the First Lady of Chile from 1938 to 1941. She was married to President Pedro Aguirre Cerda, who was also her cousin, and they did not have any children. She came from a respected family; her father was the doctor José Joaquín Aguirre and her mother was Mercedes Luco Gutiérrez. As First Lady, she focused on education and supported women’s participation in politics. After her husband died in 1941 from tuberculosis, she founded the Pedro Aguirre Cerda Children's Home Foundation to help abandoned children. She passed away in 1962.
