1985–86 Aberdeen F.C. season
Aberdeen's 1985–86 season was a successful one in cups. Managed by Alex Ferguson and chaired by Dick Donald, the Dons competed in the Scottish Premier Division, Scottish Cup, League Cup and European Cup. They finished 4th in the league but won both domestic cups, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup. In Europe, they reached the quarter-finals of the European Cup, losing to IFK Gothenburg on away goals. Top scorer was Frank McDougall, with 14 league goals and 20 in all competitions, including all four goals in a 4–1 win over Celtic in November. They also won the Tennents' Sixes indoor tournament. The highest home attendance was 23,000 for the Celtic game on 2 November 1985; the lowest was 8,500 against Dundee United on 16 April 1986, with an average league attendance of 14,526.
