1981 Campeonato Paulista
1981 Campeonato Paulista (Série A1) was the 80th season of São Paulo's top professional football league. São Paulo FC won the championship, earning their 13th Paulista title. Noroeste finished last and were relegated. The competition had two rounds, each with three phases (Qualifying, Regular, Final). The top teams from each round advanced to a final stage, and the round winners met in the Championship Finals to decide the champion. The team with the fewest points was relegated, while the second‑fewest went to a relegation playoff against the runner‑up of the second level; as a result, Noroeste were relegated and São Bento played a neutral-ground playoff against XV de Piracicaba. The season had 537 matches and 1,190 goals (about 2.22 per match). The top scorer was Jorge Mendonça of Guarani with 38 goals.
