The 2005-06 Utah Jazz season was the team’s 32nd in the NBA. Head coach was Jerry Sloan, and they played at EnergySolutions Arena.

They finished with a 41-41 record, a .500 winning percentage. The Jazz finished 2nd in the Northwest Division and 9th in the Western Conference, which meant they did not qualify for the playoffs.

The team had hoped to improve on the previous season’s 26-56 record. They did improve by 15 wins but still missed the playoffs for the third straight year.

A notable moment occurred on March 23, 2006, when Karl Malone’s jersey number 32 was retired. Malone was joined by former teammates John Stockton, Frank Layden, his son Scott Layden, Jeff Hornacek, Mark Eaton, Antoine Carr, and head coach Jerry Sloan for the ceremony.
