1972 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football team
The 1972 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football team represented Louisiana Tech University in the Southland Conference during the 1972 NCAA College Division football season. In his sixth year as head coach, Maxie Lambright led the team to a perfect 12–0 record (5–0 in the Southland). The Bulldogs were named the National Football Foundation College Division national champions, the NCAA College Division Mideast Region champions, and Southland Conference champions. They won the Grantland Rice Bowl, defeating Tennessee Tech 35–0. Home games were played at Louisiana Tech Stadium. Captains were Eric Johnson and Wayne Smith. They were ranked No. 2 in the AP poll.
