Elzear Duquette
Elzear Duquette (1910, Mirabel, Quebec – February 6, 1988, Saint-Sulpice, Quebec) was a Canadian long-distance walker who undertook several solo endurance journeys across continents. Known as the "King of the Walk," he spent more than 40 years walking. From 1969 to 1976, he traveled on foot from Montreal to distant destinations, including Vancouver, Tokyo, and Paris, covering more than 23,000 miles in total. He pulled a small cart, which he called his "coffin," that served as his bed and carried all his supplies. He supported himself by selling mementos and making television appearances along the way.
