The 1959 National League tie-breaker series decided the pennant between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Braves. Both teams finished the regular season tied with 86–68 records on September 27, 1959, three games ahead of the San Francisco Giants. The series was a best-of-three played on September 28–29, with all games during the day. The Dodgers won a coin flip for home-field advantage, so Games 2 and 3 (if needed) were in Los Angeles and Game 1 was in Milwaukee.

Game 1: Milwaukee 2, Los Angeles 3
In Milwaukee, the Dodgers pulled ahead late to win 3–2. John Roseboro hit a solo homer in the sixth to break a 2–2 tie, giving Los Angeles the margin of victory. Larry Sherry pitched well in relief for the Dodgers, who held on to take the opening game and put them one win away from the pennant.

Game 2: Los Angeles 6, Milwaukee 5 (12 innings)
Back in Los Angeles, the Dodgers won a dramatic extra-inning game to clinch the series and the pennant. Milwaukee led early, but Los Angeles tied it in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Don Furillo that brought home Hodges. The game went to the 12th inning, where Furillo again delivered, driving in a run that, combined with a Braves error, gave the Dodgers a 6–5 walk-off victory and the series win.

Result
The Dodgers won the series two games to none and captured the National League pennant. They went on to defeat the Chicago White Sox in six games in the 1959 World Series.

Notes
The tie-breaker counted as two regular-season games for both teams. It was the first MLB tie-breaker in eight years and helped cement the Dodgers’ successful move to Los Angeles.
