Parliamentary elections were held in the Seychelles in 1951. To vote, you had to be over 21, able to write your name, pay at least SR 3,000 in annual income tax, and prove you had lived in the Seychelles for at least one year. About 10% of the population could register to vote. All seats were won by independents and by members of the Seychelles Taxpayers and Producers Association, a group that mainly represented the interests of large landowners.
