Aled Richards, born in 1969 in Wales, is a Welsh drummer best known for playing with the rock band Catatonia. He started drumming young and joined Catatonia in 1996 as they were about to sign with Warner Bros. He performed with the band at big events and on TV, including Glastonbury, a Wembley show for NetAid, Later... with Jools Holland, and Top of the Pops.

Catatonia rose to fame with their second album, International Velvet, followed by Equally Cursed and Blessed. Their fourth album, Paper Scissors Stone, came out in 2001. During promotion, the band faced pressure and one member struggled with anxiety and nervous exhaustion, which led to tour cancellations and strained relationships. The band split on 21 September 2001, and Richards took a break to spend time with his children.

After Catatonia, Richards played with Killing For Company and worked with other artists. He later moved into teaching and became a music technology lecturer at Coleg Sir Gar in Llanelli, Wales. He is now a freelance musician.
