1949 SANFL season
The 1949 SANFL season was the 70th season of South Australia’s top-level Australian rules football. Eight teams competed. North Adelaide won the premiership, their 7th, and were also the minor premiers for the 6th time. The Magarey Medal went to Ron Phillips of North Adelaide. The leading goalkicker was Colin Churchett of Glenelg with 72 goals, earning the Ken Farmer Medal. Across the season, 72 matches were played, with a total attendance of 666,658 and an average of 9,259 per match. The highest attendance was 42,490 at the Grand Final between North Adelaide and West Torrens.
