1928 Ålandic legislative election
1928 Ålandic legislative election
On 15 June 1928, Åland held elections to choose all 30 members of its Parliament. The election used a party-list system. Voters could pick from 43 lists, each with up to three candidates nominated by local electoral associations. A candidate could appear on more than one list. In total there were 42 candidates, and no electoral alliances were formed. The voting system counted votes so that the first candidate on a list received one full vote, the second received half a vote, and the third received a third of a vote.
Turnout is reported differently in sources. One report states that 2,440 people voted out of 15,112 eligible voters, while another figure lists turnout at 16.64%.
Seats and government: The Parliament has 30 seats, with 16 needed for a majority. Carl Björkman was Lantråd (prime minister) both before and after the election.
