1926 United States Senate special election in Missouri
The 1926 United States Senate special election in Missouri was held on November 2, 1926. It followed the death of Republican Senator Selden P. Spencer in 1925. George Howard Williams, a Republican who had been appointed to finish Spencer’s term, ran in the special election to complete the term.
Democrat Harry B. Hawes defeated Williams in the election, receiving 514,389 votes (52.09%) to Williams’s 473,068 votes (47.91%). Hawes also defeated Williams in the regular Senate election held on the same day, winning the seat.
