1826 Delaware gubernatorial election

The 1826 Delaware gubernatorial election was held on October 3, 1826. Incumbent Federalist Governor Samuel Paynter could not run again. State Senator Charles Polk Jr. was the Federalist candidate, while David Hazzard ran again for the Democratic-Republicans. Polk won narrowly, defeating Hazzard 4,333 votes to 4,051 (about 50.55% to 48.23%), keeping the governorship for the Federalists.
