Jim Black (footballer)
Jim Black, born 13 November 1943 in Airdrie, Scotland, is a former footballer who played as a defender. He began his career with Lochend Hearts and went on to play for Airdrieonians from 1962 to 1969, making 144 league appearances. He then joined Hibernian from 1969 to 1974, playing 152 league games and winning the Scottish League Cup in 1972 plus the Drybrough Cup twice. He returned to Airdrieonians from 1974 to 1979, adding 148 appearances and 3 goals, before finishing his playing career at Stenhousemuir from 1979 to 1982 with 96 appearances. In total, he made 540 league appearances and scored 3 goals. Macon is also noted for managing Stenhousemuir from 1981 to 1984. In March 2016, he was named in Airdrieonians’ Greatest XI, a fan-chosen all-time best lineup.
