José Amavisca
José Emilio Amavisca Gárate (born 19 June 1971) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a left winger or second striker. He was born in Laredo, Cantabria, and was 1.82 m tall.
He began his career with Laredo, then moved to Valladolid (with a loan to Lleida). In 1994 he joined Real Madrid, where he had a strong first season, scoring 10 league goals and often playing alongside Iván Zamorano. Over time his role at Madrid diminished. In 1999 he moved to Racing Santander, helping the team but they were relegated in 2000-01. He later played for Deportivo La Coruña (2001–2004) and Espanyol (2004–2005). In total, Amavisca appeared in 381 club games and scored 57 goals, with 307 La Liga appearances and 34 goals.
Internationally, Amavisca earned 15 caps for Spain from 1994 to 1997, scoring one goal. He played at Euro 1996 and won a gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He made his Spain debut on 7 September 1994 against Cyprus. He was not selected for the 1998 World Cup as his form had faded at Real Madrid.
