Ziauddin University (ZU) is a private university in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It was founded in 1986 in memory of educationist Sir Ziauddin Ahmad by his daughter and son-in-law. The university began with the School of Nursing, which is accredited by the Pakistan Nursing Council. In 2009 it became the College of Nursing and later expanded to offer more programs. In 1994 the Sindh government approved the Dr. Ziauddin Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences. The university earned its charter as Ziauddin University on 13 December 2005 under The Ziauddin Medical University Act (amendment 2003). It is recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and has been amended by acts in 2018 and 2021. Ziauddin University also runs Dr. Ziauddin Hospitals. Hospital services include X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, CT, digital subtraction angiography, colour Doppler mammography and interventional radiology. A COVID-19 ward was opened at the hospital in 2020. The university is led by Chancellor Asim Hussain, Vice-Chancellor Muhammad Inayatullah Khan, and Registrar Engr. Capt. (R) Syed Waqar Hussain. It is located in Karachi and uses green and grey colors.
