St. Regis Falls, New York

St. Regis Falls is a small community in the town of Waverly, Franklin County, New York. It sits on the north side of the St. Regis River, near the St. Regis Falls that give the town its name. The area covers 1.29 square miles, all land, and sits about 1,291 feet above sea level. The population was 432 in 2020 (464 in 2010), making it a quiet, rural place. New York Route 458 runs through the village, connecting it west to Nicholville (8 miles) and southeast to Santa Clara (6.5 miles). Potsdam is about 23 miles west and Paul Smiths about 26 miles southeast. The northern edge of the CDP follows the Waverly–Dickinson town line. Saint Regis Falls Central School serves the community from the northern part of the area and is part of the St. Regis Falls Central School District. A marshy area east of the village near where water meets Duane Street just before Trim Hill is often called Alligator Alley.
