Zack Foreman
Zack Foreman, born Zachariah L. Foreman Jr. on July 22, 1893, was an American pitcher in the Negro leagues. He came from Foreman, Oklahoma.
He attended Oklahoma Colored Agricultural & Normal University and was cousins with Sylvester "Hooks" Foreman, another Negro league player. His father, Zack Sr., was born enslaved and freed in 1866; he became a well-known man in Sequoyah County, and the town of Foreman is named after him.
Foreman pitched for the Kansas City Monarchs in 1920 and 1921. In 20 recorded appearances, he had an 8–5 win–loss record with a 4.40 ERA over 108.1 innings.
He was killed on September 18, 1921, in Foreman, Oklahoma, at age 28, during a poker-game dispute. The shooter was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to four years in prison.
