Time Pilot '84
Time Pilot '84 (Further Into Unknown World) is a 1984 arcade scrolling shooter by Konami. It updates the original Time Pilot by switching to a top-down sci-fi landscape with different colors and enemies, and it adds guided missiles. The game was mainly sold as a conversion kit for older machines.
Controls: the first button fires a standard shot that destroys green enemies, while the second button fires missiles that destroy silver enemies. You must lock onto a silver enemy to fire its missiles. Destroying enough green enemies reveals a large silver boss that you must defeat to proceed to the next level.
In Japan, Game Machine listed Time Pilot '84 as the eleventh most successful table arcade unit in August 1984. The game inspired clones, including Space-Pilot II for the Commodore 64 by Kingsoft in 1985 (Space-Pilot was a Time Pilot clone). It was re-released for Nintendo Switch on May 27, 2021, as part of the Arcade Archives.
