Yohny Romero
Yohny Romero, born November 30, 1978 in Caracas, Venezuela, is a former professional tennis player. He represented Venezuela in the Davis Cup from 1999 to 2010, playing in 16 ties and winning eight singles matches and four doubles matches. On the professional tour, his best singles ranking was world No. 262, reached on April 24, 2006. He competed in the qualifying rounds of the Australian Open (2006, 2007) and Wimbledon (2006).
In doubles, his Davis Cup record was 4–3, and his best doubles ranking was No. 389 (June 22, 1998). At the Pan American Games in 1999 in Winnipeg, he and Maurice Ruah won a bronze medal in men's doubles. He won a mixed doubles gold medal at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games in Cartagena and also earned a silver in singles at those games.
After retiring, Romero served as Venezuela’s Fed Cup captain for several years and became the Davis Cup captain in 2017.
