Yellow mariposa
Yellow mariposa is the common name for a couple of California mariposa lilies, including Calochortus luteus and Calochortus venustus. These are perennial bulbs that grow in meadows and open woods in California. The flowers are usually bright yellow, often with brown or reddish markings, and have a cup-shaped bloom. They bloom in spring, depending on location and weather. They prefer well-drained soil, full sun, and regular moisture. Bees and butterflies pollinate them. Yellow mariposa lilies are loved for their cheerful color and are a popular choice in native plant gardens.
