Yarom Vardimon

Yarom Vardimon is an Israeli designer, professor, and the dean of the Azrieli Faculty of Design at Shenkar College in Tel Aviv. Born in Tel Aviv, he grew up with two brothers. He studied architecture in England, then pursued art and design at Chelsea College of Arts, Westminster University, and the London College of Communication. After returning to Israel, he earned prizes in design and began working with public, cultural, and nonprofit groups.

Vardimon has led or contributed to many important projects, including branding for Hadassah Medical Center, Yad Vashem, the Jerusalem Cinematheque, and various landmark buildings in Tel Aviv. He designed and curated the fourth jewelry biennale at the Eretz Israel Museum and organized design exhibitions at Shenkar.

In academia, Vardimon headed the graphic design department at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design from 1984 to 1996, then became a professor. He helped develop new design curricula, founded the “lecturer for an hour” program, and created The Studio for industry and social groups. He taught at Tel Aviv University starting in 2001 and later joined Shenkar as vice president of academic affairs and then dean. He started a master’s program in interdisciplinary design and served on many nomination and professional committees. He has lectured internationally at institutions such as RISD, the Danish Design School, Ravensbourne, and Saint Martins.

Vardimon has held leadership roles in professional organizations, including president of the Israeli graphic designers association and vice president of Icograda. He chaired Icograda committees and contributed to design education and public projects. He has received numerous honors, most notably the Israel Prize in design in 2007, the Icograda Crystal Ball, the IDCA fellowship, and honorary membership in the Art Directors Club of New York.

His work is featured in major museums around the world, including MoMA in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and he has been recognized in various design books and magazines. Idea magazine named him one of the world’s 100 designers. He lives in Tel Aviv with his wife Edda and their four children.
