David White (American football)
David Maurice White (born February 27, 1970) is a former American football player who played as a linebacker and fullback in the NFL and Arena Football League (AFL). He grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and went to St. Augustine High School. He played college football at Nebraska, where he was a reserve linebacker and had a productive 1991 season with 42 tackles and five sacks; he finished his college career with eight sacks and one interception.
Undrafted in 1993, White signed with the New England Patriots but spent a short time with the team. He later joined the Buffalo Bills and played two NFL seasons (1995–1996), recording 29 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 interception, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 touchdown.
After a period away from football, he joined the Arena Football League, playing for the Buffalo Destroyers (1999–2000), Toronto Phantoms (2001), Georgia Force (2002), and Tampa Bay Storm (2002–2005). He was part of the Storm’s ArenaBowl XVII championship team in 2003. In the AFL, he rushed for 48 touchdowns and had 1 receiving touchdown, with 62 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 16 passes defended, and 4 forced fumbles.
After retiring in 2005, White worked in administration at the State University of New York at Fredonia.
