Wivina Demeester
Wivina Demeester-De Meyer (born 13 December 1943 in Aalst) is a Belgian politician from the CD&V party. She represented Antwerp in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives from 1974 to 1995 and later served in the Flemish Parliament from 1999 to 2004. She also sat on the Zoersel city council for 18 years, retiring in 2006.
In government, she held several roles. She was State Secretary for Health and Disability Policy (1985–1988) and then State Secretary for Finance (1988–1991). She became Minister for Budget and Science Policy in 1991. In 1992 she briefly held multiple national posts, including Minister of Finance and Budget and, for a time, Internal Affairs, Welfare and Family. She then served as Community Minister for Finance and Budget, Health Institutions, Welfare and Family. She went on to be Flemish Minister for Finance and Budget (1992–1995) and later Flemish Minister for Finance, Budget and Health Policy (1995–1999). She left the ministerial post in 1999.
