Winsor, Newfoundland and Labrador
Winsor is a small community in the municipality of New-Wes-Valley, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is named after John Winsor (1759–1822), who settled nearby on Swain's Island in 1810. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, many Winsor family members worked in the sealing industry, often as steamer captains. Descendants of John Winsor also served in Newfoundland’s pre-Confederation House of Assembly, representing Bonavista Bay and Bonavista North.
