Whiplash Smile is the third studio album by English singer Billy Idol, released on October 20, 1986, by Chrysalis Records. The album runs 45 minutes and 29 seconds and was recorded from 1985–1986 at Right Track Studios and Unique Recording Studios in New York City. Idol produced the record with Keith Forsey, with Steve Stevens on guitar, continuing the dance-influenced rock sound that marked his earlier work.

The album received mixed reviews but sold well, reaching number six on the US Billboard 200 and number eight in the UK, with top-10 positions in several other countries. It was certified platinum by the RIAA and has sold over two million copies worldwide.

Three singles reached the US top 40: "To Be a Lover" (Sept 1986), "Don't Need a Gun" (Jan 1987), and "Sweet Sixteen" (Apr 1987). A fourth single, "Soul Standing By," was released only in Australia and New Zealand (Aug 1987).

Whiplash Smile followed Rebel Yell (1983) and preceded Idol Songs: 11 of the Best (1988).
