Where I Belong (Sia song)
Where I Belong is a song by Australian singer Sia. It was the third single from her 2004 album Colour the Small One, released on 9 August 2004. The track is about 4 minutes and 44 seconds long and is described as downtempo, indie pop, and jazz. It was recorded at Heliocentric Studios in Rye, England. The song was written by Sia Furler and Samuel Dixon and produced by Jimmy Hogarth. The single was released on Go! Beat, Systemtactic, and Astralwerks labels.
The song was initially planned to be on the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack, but it was withdrawn at the last minute due to a record label conflict. The cover art for the single even features Sia wearing a Spider-Man costume.
Promotion: Sia performed four UK summer shows in 2004 to promote the track: 1 July at Lock 17, 1 August at the Big Chill, 4 August supporting Air at Somerset House, and 15 August at Weekender Summer Sundae in Leicester.
Reception: The Guardian’s Daniel Murt described Where I Belong as a standout track on Colour the Small One, alongside Don’t Bring Me Down.
Charts: In the United Kingdom, the song debuted at number 85 on the UK Singles Chart on 21 August 2004 and stayed in the Top 100 for one week.
Track listings: The UK release included a one-track radio edit (4:44) and a UK CD/digital edition with several remixes, such as Roni Size Remix, Red Astaire Remix, Wookie Remix, Hot Chip Remix, Future Funk Squad Acidic Funk Dub, and Roni Size Crush Remix. In 2008, the US released remixes as digital downloads, including additional mixes like Roni Size Remix and Red Astaire Remix.
