The GWR 2201 Class was a group of 20 steam locomotives built at Swindon Works in 1881–82 for express passenger service on the Great Western Railway. They were standard-gauge 2-4-0s with driving wheels 6 ft 6 in in diameter and coal fuel. They had two inside cylinders sized 17 in × 24 in. These engines were built under William Dean as a continuation of Joseph Armstrong’s 806 Class, but with a cab and a domeless boiler from the start. They were numbered 2201 to 2220 and used across the GWR network, including on the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway around 1910. All were withdrawn by the end of 1921.
