West Mahanoy Township is a township in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. It sits in two pieces split by the borough of Gilberton and was incorporated in 1874. The township covers about 10.5 square miles (27.1 square kilometers), almost all land with a small amount of water. It includes the census-designated places of Altamont and Shenandoah Heights.

As of the 2020 census, 2,786 people lived there (2,785 in 2021 estimates).

In 2000, the township had 6,166 residents, along with 1,307 households and 880 families.

For a long time, the local radio station WMBT-AM 1530 served the community from Shenandoah Heights, operating from 1963 to 2003.
