West Lyon Community School District is a rural public district based in Inwood, Iowa. Most of the district sits in Lyon County, with a small part in Sioux County, and it serves the towns of Inwood, Alvord, Larchwood, and Lester, plus surrounding rural areas. The district was formed in 1960. It used to have two separate schools—West Lyon North (Larchwood and Lester) and West Lyon South (Inwood and Alvord)—but now operates a single district with three schools in one building at 1787 182nd Street in Inwood.

Shawn Kreman has been the superintendent since 2018. West Lyon participates in the Siouxland Conference for athletics, with the Wildcats as its mascot and blue and white as school colors. About 996 students attended in the 2022-23 school year, with roughly 66 teachers (FTE) and 59 other staff, for a student-teacher ratio of about 15:1. The district’s budget was about $13.5 million for the 2020-21 year. More information is available on the district website.
