Werner Haas
Werner Haas (30 May 1927 – 13 November 1956) was a German Grand Prix motorcycle racer. Born in Augsburg, he rode for NSU and became Germany’s first motorcycle world champion in 1953, winning both the 125cc and 250cc world championships. He won the 250cc title again in 1954. Across his GP career from 1952 to 1954, Haas started 21 races, won 11, and stood on the podium 18 times, earning 115 points and 11 fastest laps. He died in a light plane crash in Neuburg an der Donau, West Germany, in 1956 at the age of 29.
